More Than Enough: The Power of Prayerful Generosity

“Then Moses gave an order and they sent this word throughout the camp: ‘No man or woman is to make anything else as an offering for the sanctuary.’ And so the people were restrained from bringing more, because what they already had was more than enough to do all the work.” —Exodus 36:6-7

As members of the Body of Christ, we witness firsthand how the Lord provides through His people. Every person who prays, encourages, or gives financially to ministry and missions makes a lasting deposit that reaps eternal dividends. Each gift is early preparation for the day when we will give an account of our stewardship.

Let me share a personal example of how prayer and generosity intersected in a profound way. Years ago, God was calling my family into full-time missions with MissionWorks. The timing was perfect—the ministry needed someone with a business background, and we were eager to serve God full-time. Prayer was happening on all sides: my wife and I were praying for God to open a door; MissionWorks was praying for the right person; and somewhere, a giver was praying about how and where to give.

But, one thing was missing: financial provision to make the role possible.

Financial Provisions

About six weeks after the interview, we received a life-changing call from the CEO. An anonymous donor had given a gift to MissionWorks—enough to cover a full year of salary, benefits, and even bookkeeping support. It was a moment where we truly had “more than enough to do all the work.”

That single gift launched our entire family into full-time ministry in 2002. It transformed not only us but also the MissionWorks staff and countless others. In the years that followed, we were blessed to help mobilize over 8,500 short-term workers to share the Gospel in nearly 70 countries. Tens of thousands came to know the Lord.

The impact of that one gift continues to this day. I am convinced that, on that coming day of account, the anonymous giver will hear, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

All of this began with prayer. When we pray, God aligns the pieces of His perfect plan—people, timing, and resources.

So, I ask: Are there opportunities for sacrificial giving that you’ve been praying about? If not, why not start today? Ask God to show you when and where to give. Be ready. Your gift may be the one that helps someone say, “We have more than enough to do all the work.”
